So im going to be installing a tranny pan gasket (i have the aw4 trans) soon because of a slow leak thats smoking off my exhaust. I have no idea if the previous owner used the right atf.. Im going to be useing dex/merc iii.. My question is if there is another type of fluid in there now, say atf+4 and i mix in the 4 required quarts of dex/merc iii in.. Can it cause any harm by mixing the 2 types? Im just trying to get as many opinions as possible before i do the job

90 might be different than my 00, I had to disconnect track bar and pittman arm. Then put a jack between axle and body to raise it high enough to remove oil pan.

 

Took me that long because I had no clue what the heck I was doing, and I'd never worked on a vehicle before. Plus I ran into a million problems along the way. Like I couldn't get the dang oil pan off, I had to finally wedge a jack between the frame and pan to break it loose.. Then I could get the pan out after trying for literally everyday for a week.. Almost had to drop the axle. Then the dang seal wouldn't budge, another week. And finally 80% of the bolt holes that hold the pan got striped somehow.. Fml.. Another 2 weeks, worst time iv ever had

 

My ntk o2 rear sensor that I installed a year ago is throwing codes and causing a rich fuel mixture leading to a rough idle. Any brand you recommend? Bosch, Denso? Is ntk known for doing this or did I just get a lemon? Thanks

 

I hear you, I had to replace oil pump and pan cuz I banged the sh## out of them. Didnt realize it was getting caught up on the pump.

 

Is this gap on the upper lca bracket a problem? I measured everything and it seems square, but why would I have the gap where the driver side bolts up? Are the brackets just different or what?

Hey I disconnected my track bar where it bolts to the axle and it had tension and now that I'm trying to reconnect it it won't line up at the bottom hole. What do I do to realign them???

 

Have a buddy turn the steering wheel till it lines up!

 

Track bar doesn't move, and it's bolted to the axle, which doesn't move, right??

 

Replace my tranny filter and gasket about 2 months ago. I used the castrol dex/merc from advance auto. Just looked online at advance showed dex/merc iii was compatible with aw4 also. I also added a bottle of lucas tranny fix. Unless previous owners tell us all we can do is have faith they use the correct fluids.
