I did it on a set of headers on an old Dodge I used to have. I would not do it again! That stuff holds moisture in and will rot the exhaust out. If it's a daily driver, you may be ok. Mine sat in the driveway most of the time and the sprinklers soaked the header wrap a few times. I blew a silver dollar sized hole out of one header tube when I went to pass somebody, scared the bujezus out of me! The stuff is almost impossible to put on while the header is on the engine.

If your having overheating issues the manifold is not the culprit unless it has holes in it causing leaks.
Plus you would have to remove it from the engine to properly wrap it.

after you wrap them there is a silicone coating spray that you apply over the wrap so it does not hold moisture, Easiest way to put it on is with it on the roll and find out how long a length you need, soak it in water as you are applying it, let dry and then apply this stuff a day later http://www.truechoice.com/prodinfo.a...r=DEI%20010301

i have heard minor drops in temp with the ceramic spray when u do it yourself, but unless you send it out and get it done inside and out i dont think its worth it, I personally like the wrap and silicone spray better, I live in PA and dont have any problems with my exhaust and we use salt and god knows what else on roads in winter

I'd consider wrapping the exhaust manifold/header anyway, since it's so close to the intake manifold. It probably won't drop underhood temps at all, but it might drop the temperature right at the head/manifold interface, which should result in a cooler intake.

you would be amazed at how good the wrap works, I know its a different animal but on my 240 i am running hx35 turbo and 3 inch downpipe and log manifold, i wrapped everything up minus turbo and saw a 25 degree drop, after i got my turbo blanket, i think it went down another 53 degrees, just wrap it all the way down to where it bends under the floor,
