I am SO GLAD that I did not order any rear end parts.
I have the Corporate Ford 8.8 with 4:10 gearing,,, a 117 amp alternator,,20 gal fuel tank,,and heavier rear springs. (6 leaf instead of 4).

All I did was send an email to the local Jeep dealer with my complete VIN. And in a half hour all my guessing was over.

It is a LOT different from all the other "VIN decoders" I see on the internet. NONE of the others told me the axle or the alternator or any other really important info I was looking for.

To be honest,, it saved me a PILE of money, time and aggravation, as well as the embarrassment of NOT knowing what was/is in my vehicle. I know for a fact that this Jeep was never modified by the last owner because it was a company vehicle (surveyors). And I was very thorough asking questions before I bought it.

I would say to everyone here,,,
JUST WRITE YOUR LOCAL DEALER AND ASK. If your Jeep is 20 years old or less ,,, the actual build sheet is available.

I sent the last 8 or 5 numbers of my VIN, to this address: customerassist@chrysler.com, and asked for the factory build sheet. They sent me one back Identical to ops.

What??

Ya can't take someone makn an honest mistake?

And yes,, I AM quite pleased with what I found out,

So really,,, all the sarcasm will not bug me one bit. I am just very pleased that I have a step up from a D35,, its not anything overly special but it is a lil bit beefier and I will not worry with running 33s or 35s with 4:56 or 4:88 gearing.

The dealer inquiry came back first.
