I have been looking around for another 1997 jeep cherokee just to have for parts or build up or whatever, thats a side story. What my real concern is that I was on craigslist the other day and I happened across a 1997 jeep cherokee, but i was noticing the key things that stray it away. Meaning, that it still had the old style front turn signal assembly. I talked to the lady and she is determined that her title says 1997. Is it possible that Jeep made two different style bodies for th 1997 cherokee or does she have a false title / out of her mind. Here is the site and please someone help me out. I'm a bit confused and I am having a really hard time believing its a 1997 seeing as I've never seen onen with the old style turn signals.

Looks like a 97 now, but with white signal lights, not orange. That's what threw me off.

Would need to see the rear endcaps to see what year it is..I agree looks more like a pre96 models..definitely the front lights do not match what a 97 would look like..
I want to say that its older than a 97 the glove box is old style and the other thing that i noticed is the 4 wheel drive is engaged that bothers me makes my think that it may be shot from the lady driving it on dry pavment in 4 wheel.

They could have swapped front ends due to a front collisions but I seriously doubt that. Doesn't look like a bad deal though for 2000, I would check the transfer case in high and lo to make sure it's still good. Also check the label on the inside drivers door it will tell you the date it was manufactured.

If it is indeed a 97 with those listed specifications then $2000 is a reasonable price but as suggested it looks like a 96 or older. Check the drivers door for manufacture date and also ask to see the title so you can visually compare VINs.

Before ever buying a used vehicle it is highly reccomended to do a carfaq vehicle history report and you will learn what you need from the report.
Also if you do copy the VIN you can imput it at www.jeep.com under the owners area and enter the VIN then request a build sheet which will tell you even more.

It looks almost exactly like my '96. Maybe they built a few of those in the beginning of '97 because I've seen another alleged '97 that had the pre-97 body style.

Don't put all your faith into Carfax. I had a truck that Carfax had all sorts of negative listings about. Problem was that on the dates they had for these negative listings it was safely inside of my barn... In Pieces...
