Default Would a bad Temperature sensor/switch cause no start?

Would a bad temperature sensor/switch cause a no start? The sensor I am referring to is the temperature switch on the front of the engine by the coolant pump on a 4L (1996 XJ).

Getting good cranking and no start.
Besides checking the CPS -
Seen this before with a temperature issue and on another instance a bad relay. Replaced the relay 6 months ago so not suspect the relay. Replaced the temperature sensor 2 months ago.

-----UPDATE: Resolution was cleaning the air intake and related after pumping gas pedal to see if would start with brute force -----
While some may chastise the pumping of a gas pedal on EFI engines ... if it gets you started, out of the parking lot late at night, and home for proper repair / treatment ... I don't think people should cry foul and it might lead to the diagnostic of the issue at hand as in my situation.

Thanks to all those who helped with the diagnostic.

No. It might make it run rich, but won't prevent a start.

I heard of a bad temp switch causing a no start once, and only once, but it was a Ford. Never heard of that happening with an XJ. Could be the crank sensor, if its old, or it isnt Mopar. Do you hear the fuel pump priming? Whats the fuel pressure? Will it try to start using starting fluid? Does it have spark? Injector pulse? There are lots of reasons it wont start. Any codes?

I have heard about a bad temp sensor making a Jeep run crap.
With a '96 by the way.
Buddy had one. Was running like crap.
Did a complete tune up including wires and fuel filter.
Still ran like crap. Drove him nuts till he figured out it was the temp sensor in the thermostat housing.
But not start........

Crank sensor a possibility ... seen lots of posts. Crank sensor is a couple years old.
Fuel Pump is priming. Pressure is good.
No codes.
Will check starter fluid?

Question: Is the RPM gauge is active while the engine is cranking?

I used to have a 1990 Ranger, that had a no start issue due to bad coolant temp sensor. Not sure if the same issue could affect out Jeeps, but my Ranger was an absolute b***h to start until I replaced the sensor.

On my 92 i built a switch that would jumper in a resistor in parallel with the t-stat sensor so the computer would think the coolant was about 20-25 degrees hotter than it actually was so the fan would turn on early at around 200 instead of 220ish. If i left the switch "on" by accident and it was cold in the morning the jeep was very difficult to start a hot coolant temp makes the computer lean
out the mixture quite a bit. An open sensor enrichens the mix. Easy to check...in the morning when cold/ cool read the resistance of your sensor. Should be at least several thousand or if you are obd2 just read the temp if its similar to ambient then not your problem
