Default "wooshing" sound coming from rear of engine

Here's another whats that sound thread. Basically the rear of the engine (at the firewall) their is some kind of whooshing sound, sounds like its coming from the left side, sort of like a tap tap,but more of a choo choo train whoosh. It Only happens at idle then if i give it a little bit of a throttle it speeds up then disappears until i lay off of the gas again. Its only noticeable when the hood is open. I have plenty of oil pressure, and new sparkplugs.

this is kinda hard to diagnose.... Do you have a vacuum leak?? or maybe your intake tube is cracked and has a leak causing a noise?

I couldn't find any leaks, and the sound is to far away from the intake for it to be that. It doesn't sound like air,but like someone is sliding a knife across a table..god this is hard to explain

i think i have the same or similar problem.

when ever i let off the gas at any speeds it sounds like a very light grinding (sort of like plastic across concrete) and it's not a constant noise it goes in and out spiratically
