i have a 302 small block i wanna swap in my xj, i wanna use my t case. what trans do i need to get and what adapters do i need to make the 302 and (what trans) to mate up to my 231.?? i can make all the brackets/motor mounts, and im sure ill have to make a crossmember to relocate t case and trans...blah blah blha....just need to know what i need as far as adapters and which ford trans to run to make the drive train work i can do all the other fabing.

 

i was thinking a c4 trans outa a 4x4 ford truck...but if thats the case i might be abl to use a ford t case but i would rather use my np 231as it is built.

 

that would be cool to see done. i have a feeling it would be a never ending project with alot of broken parts. but good luck i wanna see it done!

 

well if i figure out what trans and adapter to use it will be done. everything else is bullet proof..hahaha i am doing a 1 ton swap. see i am doing everything in order as it breaks, my motor has about had it, trans is gone and once i dump a sb in it ill be selling a full traussed dana 44 with ballistic fab diff cover and a dana 30 with cromly shafts and a solid cover, then swap in the 14 bolt and hp d60 up front with leaf conversion, once i recover from all that ill be saving to get rid of the leafs all around and do a air shock conversion, its all feasable, and it will happen. by the way check my build thread there will be a exo cage build next week.

what u should get is a divorced np 205 and u can run any trans u want. gonna prob have to set the crossmember back a ways. new driveshafts or shorten/ lengthing yours. go to therangerstation.com. i think they got all the dimensions for the 302 block and trans options.
