First: Thank all of you sooo much for making CF such an amazing and helpful forum for all Jeepers.
My 96 stock 2wd cranked/no start Saturday morning. Since it didn't act like it was trying to do more than roll over with the starter, my first thought was to check here.
I dug around, found the instructions to diagnose the crankshaft position sensor, and *bingo*! 0.72 ohms between pins b and c on the male side.
Checked around on the Web for parts, as I live in the boonies and needed the part delivered. Advance had an online sale going that almost paid for my overnight delivery, and I got a Borg-Warner part.
I had to go for the transmission support drop method of changing the part, as I don't have a flex adapter or much in the way of extensions. I removed the bracket that holds the shifter cable sheath for more room.
Take apart/replace/put together/start first try!
Once again, thanks CF folks!
