alternator question
my current alternator seems to be going week
and im interseted in buying a high out put alt because i have a large sound system that draws a whole bunch of power and i already have a optima battery so i thinking about a high out put because my current alt isnt making 14v anymore its only reading 12 now on the dash
my question is what does the stock alt push out in amps at idle and at peak. im lokking into buying this alt off of ebay what do u guys think about it

I would verify output via something other than your dash gauge.
They are typically very inaccurate.
I would get either a Durango or V8 GC alt. Both are close to drop ins, and both are higher output.

A true 1800 watt amp would draw 138 amps at 13 volts. Assuming that is the amp's true power ability (most fudge the ratings way up by using some variation of instantaneous peak power instead of continuous), you'll have to upgrade the alternator and all associated wiring.
The dash voltmeter- they always read right until they don't. Check with a DMM and see what you have.
