I own a 94 jeep cherokee country 4.0 L. Recently it has developed a problem...
-Engine will not start when warm
-stalls when accelerating
-jerks when foot is removed from gas pedal

Things I have already done to try to fix it...
-replaced fuel filter
-replaced ignition coil
-replaced crankshaft position sensor

The problem still exists and is a pain...
Does anyone have any ideas?

The Idle Air Control motors on these act up when the engine is at operating temp. If it runs fine as long as you keep your foot on the gas, but stalls when you take it off, it needs the IAC motor.

Check the fuel pressure, I don't think the IAC is the problem.

I'm having this problem exactly as described by the poster. Curious whether Huffy solved the problem.

Im not an expert at testing parts, but I've replaced the fuel filter and busted oxygen sensor. crank sensor replacement didn't work.

He says it wont stay warm...Thermostat stuck open? if you aren't warm enough, ...you won't be in closed loop. I don't recall offhand but the CTS has to see a certain temp something like 140F?
Scan tool to see TPS waveform, they will cause those bucking symptoms. Ask anyone who dumped too much seafoam in the intake.
Fuel pressure tester always a good tool.

I will grab a fuel pressure gauge, and some freeze spray to test various components when it won't start warm. I only have OBD1 and only basic tools and am learning diagnostics. feeling pretty overwhelmed.

Ok, now it say wont START warm. Got it.
Thinking cam sensor or CPS.
Thinking scan tool and fuel pressure tester.

Problem solved! Changed the sparks/wires/cap/rotor and it's been running and starting well. Good lesson on the importance of a thorough tuneup and trying the simple things first. Thank you everyone for the helpful input!
