This is a 91 xj 4.0 limited I just put another motor in and a different steering column. Now its all back together and it turns over 3 to 6 times then the alarm flashes and won't start or it will sputter start 3-10 sec the alarm flashes it loses all power. I don't understand if this the alarm doin its normal thing or if there is a short. I have never had the remote so I can't turn it off that way. I used to be able to pull the bright light switch and turn the key on at the same time and it would start. But since I changed the column it don't work no more. How can I bypass or disable the alarm? Is there a wire that can be snipped and grounded or just snipped? Or is there something I can put in place of the alarm box module. Because it will disconnect from the harness but when I do this it still won't start nothin works. Any suggestions its winter snow and ice this weekend and would love to go wheelin.

 

Key in pass door, turn to lock and unlock numerous times. This will turn off the alarm if thats what your issue is. It sounds like it.

 

Didn't work do you know of anything else I just rather not have the system don't even got a radio to steal just a junk ol cb radio

 

Does anyone have any other suggestions that not working. the door lock thing. The wires from the alarm box module there should be a power does anyone know the color so I can cut it or ground it out its factory. Also I swapped in a column from either a 90 or 91 wrangler well my buddy told me that's what it came out of. But I don't think so don't think there the same but never owned a wrangler to know. But my old column had a override for the alarm in the bright switch on the column pull back while starting it over road it the new column don't do it. But maybe cuz my alarm is wackin out. I don't know isn't that hooked to flash to pass I pulled the fuse still nothin is the bright light switch worn out? what is the deal need help jeep been sittn almost a year a 2x4 Chevy s_(*$

 

Do you have one of those nifty cards that gos in a slot lower dash drivers side? I have one and if it's not in it will turn and sputter like nothing. If that's the case and it's not in their or not hooked back up correctly you may have to ground it out.

We have the same model jeep Well other than the axles which you can kindly drive em down to OKC for me if ya want

You have also have to pull the alarm module which I am told is behind the glove box.

 

Mine don't have a card or whatever and I don't think my jeep fits in a card and postage outragous! Umm thanks man I found the module but I also ground out green Orange wire still nothin I think the alarm is cutting power off at the coil but not to sure so many wire so Much electrical. About to go buy another late 70's blazer that was my first vehicle a lot less problems and I could bounce bash smash anything with it! And it would always go just had to keep foot and t-case shifter for 4x4 to stay engaged
