Default Wonky speedo

I just bought a '92 Cherokee Sport and have been driving it a little to check it out and see what all it needs. One thing is the speedo is acting up. It'll read ok for a while, then drop to zero, then pick back up, then back to zero, rinse and repeat...

Bad gauge? Bad VSS? Interested in the general consensus.

you'll have to rule out VSS first then go after the gauge

New VSS seems to have fixed the wonky speedo issue. Nice and smooth now.
