Default Wiring for Fog lights

I have a 01 XJ with no stock fog lights. I am trying to add a set to my rig, but dont really want to fight my way through the firewall. When I pulled off my dash panel and looked where the stock switch would be, I found a set of 4 wires. They were: purple, black, blue and orange.

I am wondering if anyone knows where i can find these wires in the engine compartment so I can use them for my fog light switch.

Are you looking to adding a stock set of fog lights?

If so, behind the bumper there should be a plug that came from factory where you could wire in the fog lights and the wiring will also be inside behind the bezel piece. So you would just need to buy the lights, and a new switch for inside on the bezel.

Most all XJ's were made with all the wiring for everything, and then some got the options from factory and some didn't.

Even with aftermarket lights, you can use the existing wiring, if its there.

Thanks man,

I was just curious because there are no fog light relays or any wires running to the relay locations.

dought this will help but I have a 1992 MJ. When I added fog lights to it I ran the wires through a gromet in the fire wall. not to hard to pass through then attached the wires to the switch. Than again your rig is nine years newer than mine so the gromets might have changed. I built my own wire harness for the Baja lights and tighted it into the fuse panel. Very easy and fun.

Nope, the grommets are the same.

ebay sells a remote wiring setup for about $20-$25 dollars
that keeps the wires in the engine bay and you can use a alarm type fob to turn them on-off from about 450ft away.
-I dont have one, but have thought about it.
