Default wireing up lights

i have 3 lights i just put in top of my jeep. i have no idea what the safe was is to wire them. they have a yellow wire that it attached to the mounting hardware and a ground wire that is attached to nothing?

if i wired the power wire to the mounting hardware wont it short out???

do you have a relay for the wiring and do any of ther wires have inline fuses

You need inline fuses and a relay if you want to wire them safely or else you have a good chance of you xj turning into a fireball check out the thread I'm Stumped there is a great picture diagram of how to wire them in. hope it helps

by inline fuse you mean like what you have for an amp?? i am thinking about wiring them up from my fogs... would save me from cluttering my dash up.

so you want to wire them to you factory fog lights ?

well wiring them in place of the factory ones. yes you can do it but im not sure how to do it that way..if you do a search there are quiet a few people on here that did that

It would be best to have the factory fog light switch/wire trigger the relay. Then wire the rest of it up as shown in the I'm Stumped thread. https://www.cherokeeforum.com/f2/im-stumped-59391/

Majormatt... do not apply power to the mounting hardware. The wire to your hardware is most likely the ground, not the power wire.

the wire to my mountiung hardware is the power wire.. i checked it with my spare light
