Default Wipers stuck on

So i started my mj yesterday and the wipers are stuck on. How do i just get them to turn off. Isnt there a relay i can just take out? If so where. Its driving me crazy.
I searched the forum first and couldnt find anything that was quite right.

You should see a 5.5 amp circuit breaker, mounted vertically in the far left side of your underdash fuse panel. That's for the front wipers.

I'm not sure if your MJ has it but my '89 XJ has a wiper control module that's velcro'd under the driver's side knee bolster (near the steering column). Remove that module and it should make them stop.

I'm wondering if you have a short somewhere in the harness under the column. Let us know if you find that control module and if disconnecting it helps.

You unplugged the intermittent wiper module and the wipers still wouldn't shut off? If so that really only leaves a short somewhere in the harness between the module and the wiper motor. Or the big connector @ the firewall. Pulling that module should interrupt the wiper switch. Are you sure you pulled the right module?

If you didn't have intermittent wipers I'd say the always-on +12V to the "park" circuit was finding it's way to the wiper motor (a bad park switch in the wiper motor itself will do that). But pulling the intermittent module (if there is one) would interrupt that too.

Im pretty sure the short is between the module and wiper motor. The lights diming when the wipers go down also seems like its a short.
Hope it rains tomorrow if i cant get 'em fixed

You could unbolt the arms until you figure this out... but keep'em with you just in case it rains.

Update. So my wipers started to work again out of the blue a while ago and kinda just forgot about them. Rightbefore They started working had replaced a couple lights in my dash and somehow the cruise control swithch/button fell of and i just taped the wire ends and left it out. Today i hooked it back up and when its connected the wipers stay on.
Does anyone know if it could be the cruise control or any other ideas.
I dont use cruise control but i like things to work the way they were meant to.
Any thoghts would be great.
