I drove about 8 miles home last night in the rain and dark with no wipers. They go about half way up then they stop. If i give em a nudge theyl continue up and go back down by themselves. So... How do i get to the wiper motor? and what years of xj's have the same motor as my 87?
I have not tackled this on my jeep yet, but on a previous vehicle I was able to reach the wiper motor by removing the cover between the hood and the windshield (where the washer fluid sprays from). You might check there. I am sure there are others that can tell you for sure.
As a quick aside, I seriously considered buying an old jeep, hard to remember now if it was on old CJ or flattie, but the windshield wiper motor was a pair of vice grips clamped on a stud sticking through the base of the windshield... probably NOT an option you want to consider this time around
