What do you mean illegal??? They are only illegal in summer. So, if you buy winter tires, you are allowed to put studs on them as long as they can be studded. Personally, I have brand new Goodyear Wrangler Territory (31X10.5R15) and I have nothing bad to say about them. You know how much snow we just got and I have no trouble what-so-ever. They were very good on ice when we had that freezing rain.

...I've driven through Montreal with studs... where did you get this info from?

From what I've learned, studded tires are only illegal in areas that don't see extreme weather. I'm from Vancouver, yet oddly enough studded tires are allowed there. I currently live in Fort McMurray, and the RCMP here STRONGLY suggest you use studs. So I'd suggest you do some research, you might be wrong.

If you can in fact use studded tires, I highly recommend the Nokians. Can't remember which model I've got, I'll take a look.. but they're wicked. I drive on black ice daily, and never skid.

Lol really. I was told by my friend they are. Do they make a lot of noise on the road though?

They make noise. But so does skidding on black ice, and totalling your vehicle.

Which noise do you prefer? :P

As much as I like BFG, I think they have way too much "publicity" for what they are. Yeah, they are good, but for cheaper, you can get something almost as good. I was gonna buy some BFG Mud terrains, but for the price I paid those Goodyear, I couldn't pass this up. There's also the fact that I needed tires A.S.A.P.

No reason to get mad at someone telling the truth. BFGs are good, the best? Not even close. Best for the price? Not even close. Just good.
