Winter Motor Oil Viscosity?
New to Cherokees. Mine is a 2000 4.0L w/ 146,000. What is recommended for Motor Oil Viscosity for Winter/Summer? What brand oil filters? Any other tips to change the oil myself? THX

WINTER means different things depending on what state you live in. It can mean -30 F or it can mean +50 F. (or even 80 in Hawaii!!)
I follow the recommendations by the Jeep design engineers on this one.
*Outside temperatures PRIMARILY above 60 degrees farenheit: 10-30
*Outside temperature PRIMARILY below 60 degrees farenheit: 5-30
Lots of oil filter threads. SEARCH for them. Also log onto "bobistheoilguy" for lots of discussions on filters.
Here's one recent one to wet your whistle....
