Windshield Wiper Motor Plug Swap?

Thinking this isn’t so simple, but I might as well ask.

1991 Cherokee Sport.

The windshield wipers are super sloppy.

Depending in the direction of the wind, how fast I am driving, or just out of randomness, the blades bump at the bottom, or run off the windshield at the top of the cycle.

Purchased a new motor and assembly. But the power plug for the “91’ to 96’” motor and frame is oval.

The power plug on the Jeep is round.

Thinking that the power supply from the Jeep is different vs the requirements of the wiper motor (Watts, Voltage or some other measure). Or is it possible to swap the plug on the motor, or the Jeep?

My understanding was the 97 and later were faster than the earlier models.

If it's the wrong motor I'd take it back and get the correct one. The part changed from the round to the oval in '92.

Rockauto.com has the correct wiper motor in stock for $65 (+core + shipping). I'd put the correct one in and not screw around with trying to wedge in the wrong part.

The mistake is that the plug actually changed for 92 and up. So yes you have a round plug on your 91.
Your best bet is to order it from advance auto and use their 25% off coupon (code: RMNCA) it'll be around 60 + tax after you return the core. Or get it from rockauto but you lose on shipping it + return core shipping. You can return the core to any advanceauto even though you ordered it online.
