Default Windshield Trim Help

I have a leak coming into my cabin from the top my windshield on the passenger side. I did some research on removing the trim so I can re-seal the windshield and wondering if anyone has done this before. I know I need a new windshield but I dont have the money for one right now and I need to stop this leak as the rainy season is just about here.
I made the special tool needed to remove the trim from the clips out of some sheet metal. Any special tricks on this process or whats the best stuff for re-sealing up the windshield would be a great help.

I would say some type of silicone or rubber. I havent done it but that what I would think for a temp fix. Maby just look out of a Windshild truck and try and buy a tube of something off him.

Can you give some details about this tool you made to remove the metal trim? I'm going to remove mine and I've read about grinding off the tabs that it attaches to. That way I can have a 97+ weatherstrip installed to get rid of the metal trim all together (to reduce wind noise).

Heres a pic of what one looks like. Im not sure how to explain how it works though, but if you go to you tube and search for "windshield trim removal" theres a video or two of how it works.

Tool is second from the left in this picture. Use butyl rubber to seal the windshield.

mine was leaking for a while too. i just used some silicone and squeezed a bead along the trim across the windshield. it seemed to work for a year or so.

but then i had a glass guy come over to replace the windshield and he used some metal tape to cover up the huge rust hole, then he used a chit load of his butyl rubber sealant over the repair and layed the new windshield in. then after he replaced my trim, he ran a bead above and below the trim to help seal it up again.
it's worked great ever since. he didn't even charge me any more to do the repair.

200 taxes in for brand new windshield and repair, plus he came to my house to do it.

so of course, i threw him an extra 30 bux.
