I am looking for a replacement for my cracked '99 XJ windshield. I can't find a new one anywhere but located a few without cracks or chips of the pre-97 vintage at the pick-n-pull. My parts diagram indicates the 97-2001 are the same but I can't confirm the pre 97 are interchangeable.

Can anyone verify this or recommend where I can find a new windshield? I tried eBay and Vogle with no luck.

I haven't got the parts catalogue of the pre update years, but one could compare part numbers to ensure they're the same. If so, you should be ok.
Have a look on Cruiser54's website, I think besides FSM's there might be a parts catalogue as well. Otherwise he'll be able to help you on the partnumber (or anyone else who has a pre update parts catalogue). Hope this helps you out.

 

According to my parts guide, the 95 and 96 have the same PN for the windshield as the 97-99. PN# 5515 4994.

You should try a local autoglass place.

 

I did that, thats what started my search. I located two at the pick n pull and will need to get the removal tools so I can get it out without breaking them. Cost at the yard is $49. One of the reasons I like my xj. I’ll get my local guy to do the indtall.
