Default Windshield Leak..

I have a 99 xj, and we have been having alot of rain recently and yesterday evening, after a few days of solid rain I noticed a little dripping coming from behind the drivers pillar trim, I pulled the trim away and saw wetness coming from between the windshield and the body a few inches up from the dash..this is the first time I noticed this problem, although it could be an old problem, I really dont know...my question is, have any of you guys noticed this happening to you, and if so how did you fix it?
Should I just shoot a little silicone in there? I dont see any holes or gaps, I want to fix it completely, not just cover it up.
Thanks!

The molding is a separate piece that holds the window in place and the windshield it's self dose not touch the body.

Might be easier to lift the molding if you heat it up first with a hair dryer/heat gun. Have not tried it myself so just an idea. It is quite stiff so i am thinking to soften it up.

it will only get worse and worse.
i'm sure if you were to remove the windshield, you will have a rust hole along the seating channel.
to fix this, you should weld in some new metal, or you can get away with cleaning it up and using some aluminum tape to cover the hole, then get the windshield guy to use extra sealant along the top. then when the windshield is back in and the trim in on, get him to apply a line of sealant along the top and bottom of top piece of trim.

that's what i did to mine about 3 years ago and it hasn't leaked since.

+1
Rust in there. Here are some pics of the amount of sealant my w/s guy used. He took it out, cleaned it up as best he could then re-installed it. Probably should have replaced the w/s for the small extra cost as it has a chip ...
