hey all,
been having a real strange day with the electronics in this thing lately. each window moves from the driver panel, but if I try it from it's own door panel, nothing happens. toggling the window lock doesn't do anything, and the motor works but for whatever reason I can only control it from one place. they failed me on safety for this so I'd like to get it fixed. what are my options?
thanks!

You can remove and clean the window lock button on the driver's door switch module. I just recently watched a video on YouTube about redoing all the solder connections inside that switch module and it's pretty easy.
Most likely the window lock button on the driver door master control is the problem. Was in my '00. Various threads and videos out there resoldering the connections like dave1123 pointed out. Also believe there were some about bypassing the window lock button too.
I just bought a new master control and called it a day.

i was going to do one of those bypass's today from the video's, as new switches for every other year seems to be cheap except for the 96 grand cherokee, but ran into a road block since i also didn't have any of the plugs they mentioned on the panel by the left foot, couldn't even find a plug that contained a yellow, brown and black wire. although after plugging everything back in and making sure everything was in good, all the windows are working.
of course my issue was only the drivers side window worked all the others would not except once in a great while which hopefully is not what happened today.

You may have the older style in the 1996. There is a bundle of wires that goes from the driver's switch to the relays on the passenger's floorboard. The bundle rests under the driver's feet and has a tendency to wear the wires. Another issue reported about the older style is that the relays stop receiving a sufficient amount of voltage.
