Default Window tint

Tried running a search on the forum and couldn't find anything. Anybody have any experience with window tint? Is it a job to do myself? Or should I take it in?

Take it in.

Its easy to screw up and if you dont buy the right tint it will fade to purple over the summer.

I just bought some walmart tint for like fifteen dollars to do just my back window cause the rest are already done.

Im gonna throw it on and see how it looks, if it fades ill take it off and get it done professionally.

Your going to need a partner to do it though, ive done it for other peoples cars, its not too hard and theirs haven't faded yet..

Have you ever put a screen protector on your phone? its like that just add a spray bottle and 1000x the surface area lol

Actully I had my phone takin in to get that done too haha, I guess I'll just take it in. Does anyone have their driver windows tinted? Does it look goofy if you have the windows down but that other triangular window is tinted? I'm just trying to get an idea of what it would look like, because during the summer I never roll my windows up. Even though I have a perfect ac haha

I tinted my front windows, (2-door), to match the tinting on the rest of the glass from the factory. If you use quality tint, you can do it yourself and have it look good, and not discolor. A squeegee is essential to getting all the air bubbles out.

However, my tint is too dark as I was told by the hiway patrol here in MN.
Got a warning ticket to remove it. The tint must allow 50% or more of the light thru to be legal in MN.
Mine lets thru only about 20% of light.
I really think the cop had his eye on my Jeep right from where I entered the hiway, and was looking for a reason to stop me. I have driven by cops for 2 years with the tint on without issue until earlier this week.

I have a pic, but it is not hosted anywhere to post it here. I can e-mail one to you if you agree. PM me with an address, and I'll zip one right off.

Yea I probably will just take it on. My rear passenger windows are done already, so I would just need the rear window done, and if I catch a good deal maybe I'll do the front windows as well. Anyone have any idea on how much it might cost me?

I tint all my vehicles, RV, and boat. Take it in. Find out your state laws for tint too and follow the law.

I'm in Ohio and too dark front window tint gets you pulled over and $175 ticket. Point being dark, illegal tint in the wrong windows is easy to spot by the LEOs.

Nobody should ever buy the cheap crappy tint from the Wal-Mart or the local DYI autoparts store. Just a huge waste of money and it never turns out looking nice.
Never use glass cleaner with ammonia in it, it will ruin the adhesive and turn the tint purple over time.
