Some of my mods have been put aside and now i'm focusing on a winch mount. It will be set behind the front bumper and have tow hooks with it. I have someone from 4wd hardware helping me out on this and i think it would be sick. I just have to cut a hole on my bumper for the hawse and that's all you will see.
I threw the backbone project out the door. This one will do the same as the backbone, except being cheaper and not block radiator air flow.
This is gonna rock
i do have a picture of one already completed and on a jeep but i'm not posting it yet....

Just a thought to ponder.
Mounting a winch behind the bumper make servicing it a royal biatch. If you run steel cable and it winds up on one side of the drum....royal biatch. If you spend time in the mub your winch is gonna be constantly encased in mud, you guessed it...royal biatch.
As far as not wanting to mount a winch infront of the radiator...it's a non-issue for 4.0L equiped rigs. Remember that the two fans are mounted to the left and right of the radiator centerline, airflow is only slightly affected.
FWIW, I've got mine mounted high and right infront of the radiator and have only got the motor hot once during some extreme weather/driving conditions. Pics available if ya wanna see it.

Ok i know this is extremely off topic but I saw the clever air chuck mount and i have to ask, how long it takes for an ARB air compressor to inflate a 31" tire?

pics or something else? I'm lost
Where did you see this airchuck at? Again I'm a little confused. yes I'm very blonde.

The solenoid will be extended into the engine bay, way in back so that's out of harm's way. I don't see how it would be any different (cable winding up on one side) being outside or under the bumper because you only can work with the amount of room the fawse allows you to work. I can just unspool it and respool. That won't be an issue. I do that when winching anyways. Only one thing that concerns me is the switch for spool in and out. I am going to make an access hole with a cover that flips open and allows you access to the switch. I gotta see how it's mounted first before i decide on that.
Yes it's my airchuck, but I don't have an ARB compressor, York OBA set-up here. Takes less than 2 minutes to go from 15psi to 30psi. Runs air tools too.
Pics? Okey-Dokey!!
