I wouldnt trust the front bumper to hold the hawse/fairlead.. The stock bumpers are weak and if you had a side pull I would expect the front bumper to distort and bend quite a bit. Is the hawse/fairlead going to be supported from behind the bumper?

The hawse is bolted to the winch plate which is bolted to the frame and reinforced down the framerails. It's not bolted to the bumper.

When you use the York OBA you lose A/C (at least on Renix Jeeps) and I'm not willing to do that so I plan to make the ARB work for mine. Granted it is much slower than the York but you don't need the engine running to have a little air. Just need to finish gathering components.
Frank where did you mount your tank? I have the compressor under the hood but have not selected a tank b/c I can't figure a good place for it to mount.

Guys have been building them for years. I built mine based on stuff I've read on the world wide webbie.

My last XJ had a winch on the bumper, I didn't like it, I was always having problems with clearance because of the poor approach angle.

Frank's bumper keeps it up a little higher then the setup I had though

But I mounted mine under the grille this time

But it was a major pain making all the brackets so that it would be strong enough

I didn't mount my control box under the hood, stuck it thru the grille instead, but it certainely could be put underhood.

This was actually available from Mopar atleast on 91-93 Jeep Cherokees... Good luck finding original parts for one though, but just a bit of interesting info.

I apologize the pictures are smaller than I thought they would be, they are just screen prints from the Mopar parts manual.
