Any thing that has a motor Harbor Freight will sell you a 2 year warranty (ESP). So buy it and after 22 months get a new one. And keep on doing it.

Man I abused my 9k MM winch for 3 years, every weekend, getting stuck in mud. That thing went through two motors but it kept on pulling. I recommend twice the vehicle weight when choose a winch. 8k or more would suit a cherokee. 6k would do but you'd need to double-line it.
When i get my detour's bumper, i'll be sure a MM winch is sitting on it

Get a Smitty XRC8000 for $299 at 4Wheel Parts, you get a great price and you don't have to worry about it burning up.
You gotta understand that i used my winch more than any of you guys do. We would go out in the mud every weekend in the summer and it got used every time, and not just once.
Mud in the motors didn't help much either. Our 4-wheeling signature was "ready to get stuck?"

I could burn out a warn winch if you asked me too. My buddy's milemarker never burnt it's motor and he had it longer than me. I dunno how he managed to keep it alive for 5+ years.
I know for sure my next winch will be the MM hydraulic so i can winch as long as i please.

4Wheel Parts has stores all over the country in all the major cities but, they do most of their business through online mail order.

careful my bestfriend had one and we busted a line and had to wait a llong time to be pulled out as well as not being able to have pwr steering....just make sure you replace all lines when you do that....its worth the extra 40 bucks

the smittybuilt xrc8 is a very nice winch. its much much nicer than the harbor freight crap. my freind has the first gen xrc 8 and we use it all the time. it does such a good job i got an xrc 8 for my cherokee. mines the second gen and its even nicer. i say xrc 8 is the best bang for your buck
