I just ordered some new skyjacker shocks and they are boring white before i put them on I want to paint them a different color. They come with red boots does anyone have any advise on painting them and have any suggestions for a good color that would go with the red boot i have a green jeep by the way i was thinking black and red maybe or maybe yellow. thanks

VERY good idea. What you don't know about skyjacker shocks, and it's not listed in the product description, is that they guarantee....RUST. I had a couple sets of these shocks and their stabilizers as well and they always started rusting within a month or two. Not MAJOR rust but spots here and there, especially near the ends. Painting them would be WISE, very WISE. Paint em whatever color you wish and use quite a few coats if you can.

My suggestion is black. You don't really need the boots though but it's up to you. If you do use them, it would be wise to enlarge the holes (and add one or two more) at the end of the boot. They have a drain hole that's super tiny and needs enlarged so dirt and water can actually drain out if it gets in there.

Bedliner. Red boots would be great looking. mudd is right they are infamous for rusting. Cheap powdercoating I guess.

Is it even powdercoating? Seems like cheap paint.

I know shocks can heat up with some major suspension action and wouldn't bedliner trap in the heat more?
