I have a 2001 Cherokee Sport with a 4 liter and this is my problem. When you are driving along sometime you will feel the jeep kinda buck a little bit. When you feel the buck and you look at the tach you can see the rpm's jeep from like 2000 to 2500 or 3000 and back down again. My thought is maybe a bad or going bad TPS. Does anyone have any ideas what would cause this problems?

I am in the navy and driving across the country. My 2000 Cherokee just started doing this 30min ago. I have about 500 miles until I get to a place where I will be able to do something about it. How long can I push this issue before it either shuts the engine off or revs uncontrollably? Thanks.
