Default Why do my wheel bearings keep breaking?

I just replaced my wheel bearings in my rear axle (Dana 35) for the 3rd time in 3 months. Can anyone tell me why they keep breaking? I haven't even done any wheeling. This is from normal daily driving. I make sure everything is seated right. I'm wondering if something else might be causing the problem. Any help is greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

Are you greasing them?

Are you sure they are bad?

What symptoms are you experiencing with them to feel they are bad?

The only time I had a quick bearing failure was when I failed to read directions and tightened them down without backing off the bolt, needless to say they cooked within a couple days running.

If you say everything is seated properly. Check to see if the axle isn't bent. Does it have any vibration before the bearings go out?

I greased them really good each time. And each time the bearing has been completely busted. To the point of fishing out little bearing cylinders out of the axle housing each time. I carefully tap them in all the way and evenly. I'm just not sure what is causing them to bust so quickly.

It does still have a very slight vibration after everything is repaired. What's the best way to check if it's bent? I have inspected the shaft each time to check for damage. It appears fine each time. I haven't checked to see if it's bent though.

Thanks everyone. It's a bent axle. I'll be replacing it this weekend.

I thought that was the problem. My 65 Chevy P/U did the same thing. Good Luck on your repairs. Let us know how it works out once you get her back on the road.
