Default While replacing oil filter adapter seals, noticed a vacant plug on harness

Hey. So there are three plugs coming off of the wiring that goes to oil filter adapter and I've noticed that one is vacant. I can't find a matching plug anywhere in the vacinity. It's likely this plug has been like this for at least 20-40k miles. I'm not sure if it's one I unplugged while doing sparkplugs or my valve cover. Can you help me with this? The jeep runs great, but I'm super confused. Going through my haynes manual has not been much help yet.

Here is the homeless plug. Tons of gunk in the vicinity, hence redoing oil filter adapter o rings

last spam reply until I get some responses.. I've felt under the plug rail. That is separate connector, the oil pressure sending unit connector is plugged and the plug that goes further forward is good.

I feel like an idiot. It's nice how the simple things humble you sometimes. I guess I'll finish my TCase fluid change and oil change and save the adapter until tomorrow. Hope I get some feedback. We'll see how it runs.

Tomorrow I'll lose some oil and reattempt the oil filter adapter once I get this plug figured out. I also am going to drain and fill trans. I suppose that'll wait.

Thanks. I'll go fish around some more. It's 30 degrees out and my hands only last so long.

You'll be better off if you join us not to question why.

hahaa.. that's that I'm thinking.. I know i didn't unplug it today.. After much reading was thinking maybe they use same harness from systems with distributor cap. effing cold. was a good stopping point anyhow.

By the looks of the gunk on my alternator, the oil filter adapter must be the leak. I thought it was rear main seal at first. I just was hoping to get it done as to not waste my precious rotella.

Anyone else wanna take a stab?

Surprised OP hasn't gotten a decent answer.
I will go look at my 98 tomorrow and try to get pics of everything near the OFA.

My '99 doesn't have that.

it's a 2000. I tried stretching the cable in every direction just to see where it could possibly go. I also looked for another connector that might be dangling, looking for a home.. With no avail.
