Default Where is the starter?

1999 Jeep Cherokee sport, 6cylinder, 4L

Basic question - where is the starter located in my Jeep? Is it accessible from the top or from the bottom?

Near the back of the engine on the passenger side. Access from underneath the Jeep.

You can see it if you look from the top on the passenger side and look down all the way in the back..... Or just follow the positive side of the battery cable to the one that goes down and to the back lol.

...and remember to disconnect your negative battery lead and wrap it with a towel or something to prevent it from re-connecting while you're under there. On a previous car I did everything right but forgot to secure the negative lead, it slowly worked it's way back to the terminal and my braided brake lines lit up like a toaster filament, right before they exploded and started shooting flaming brake fluid all over the car and driveway.
