Where is smell of burning oil coming from
After going up an incline such as my steep driveway, when exiting the vehicle (97 Cherokee 4.0) you can smell what appears to be burning oil.
There is a new valve cover gasket and oil filter adapter gasket. My mechanic can not see any oil anywhere. The CCV system is functioning properly and the Tcase is not overfilled so it couldn't be blowing out vent tube. Any idea where to look next???

There is a gasket under the distributor where it sits in the engine block, they will start leaking after years of heat cycles. The oil will run back along the bottom edge of the block and drip exactly where the RMS tends to drip from.
