Default When the key goes on the lights go out.

97 XJ 4.0. Ran and drove fine. No problems. Pulled the battery and starter, to check out another Jeep, put them back in and everything seemed normal. Under hood light, dome light, dash lights, everything electrical came on fine. Turn the on over to start and the starter clicks and everything goes out as thou you pulled the battery. No power anywhere. Unhook the battery then reconnect it back to normal. Then no power after trying to start. What could be the problem?

Also I would suggest checking your battery terminals for proper contract with the cables. Had a similar issue with my 90 Celica once, just had to snug the cables up I the terminals and all was good.

Cables have been tight all 5 times I've unhooked and reconnected them.

Are the terminals clean? Any corrosion on the cables? I have no idea how rusty Indiana is

You could go test your battery Just to rule out that it didn't get killed some how. Check all your main grounds. It really sounds like a loose connection some where. Make sure the cables are clamped into the terminal connections very well and that all connections are clean.

Default turn key lights go off

I have the same problem on a 1995 gc orvis with the 5.2. I have had the CPS, PCM, and coil all replaced. After the coil was replaced ran fine for a week, backfired once then started having the stall issue again. Now when I turn the key all the interior lights go off and it wont do anything. I can disconnect the battery for a while then hook it back up, lights will come on but then go off when key is turned. I have tried unlocking the passenger door and hatch to see if it might be the security system but nothing works. Anybody have any ideas on this one? I would appreciate any input.

Thanks!!!
