I was doin a lil wheelin nothing much and went over this big hill turned around went back down in neutral and after I took it outa 4wd I noticed it was over the 210 degree mark a little bit (not in red zone) but still was a lil hot then started running like straight junk it would drive fine but seem like it had no power and bogged out slightly??? I pulled over at a parking lot let it idle for 15 minutes then went back to normal but my oil pressure was well below 40 it gets to 40 when I get up and moving but when I llet off the gas and let it idle it goes back down pretty fast... I have no clue what could it could be any of it???...! And to top it off it sounds like my exhaust may have a prolem to it had this weird tone to it all of a sudden and all this took place after this hill climb... im upset and don't know where to start any ideas of what may be goin on are greatly appreciated

Sometimes after I go through mud, I get this rough stumble from the engine through the exhaust. I have been told it is the oxygen sensor that gets dirty or something, causing it to misread and idle rough for a bit until it straightens out.

 

So its completely normal then to be rough for a few then im assuming so I shouldn't get it looked at or see why its over heating? Maybe mud just got caked to the engine? Idk thank you though

 

I could guess that the overheating is because you are stationary in the mud. Does your electrical fan work? Check if it is lodged with mud, that could happen.

My Jeep's gauge goes a little over 210, probably to 220 max until the electric fan cools it. But it does not go over into the red, unless the fan was not working.

 

Ok see mine was goin just a lil over 220 like ur sayin never in red and today for the most part it stayed at 210 and thanks for the fan troubleshooter..

 

Tolerate no overheating. You need to figure out what is causing it.

The "target temp" for the 4.0 is 200-210, give or take a bit, depending on outside temp and how you are using it.

When was the last time this engine had routine cooling system maintenance? IE: fresh coolant, new 195 degree thermostat, new radiator cap, check serpentine belt to ensure it is tight.......
