XJ 98 sport. I broke a wheel stud while putting my wheels back on after changing the tie rod ends. The nut is stuck on one of the five studs and the stud is spinning. I suppose I am in for a new wheel hub assembly? But in the meantime the question is: how can I remove the nut from the stud? I will need to do my brakes soon and I can't see how I am going to remove the wheel.
Thank you all for your suggestions.

No it didn't pot out the back. I guess I will have to brake the nut first and then take it out. I thought the studs were part of the hub assembly; didn't know I could replace just a stud.
Thanks a lot.

We come across this problem in the shop from time to time. The stud strips and just spins, so we have a few options. (1) burn off the nut with the torch, but this marrs the aluminum wheels. (2) if steel wheel, might be able to cut stud with air wizer (3) least damaging way is placing large pry bar behind rim and bearing, then pull on the bar to place as much pressure on nut as possible. Then use air gun to remove nut. This works as long as the nut was not cross threaded and has locked to the stud. Sometimes takes 15-20 minutes of prying on rim to break stud off with air gun. (4) other option would be using air chisel to split nut if there is enough room to get the chisel between the nut and aluminum rim opening.

Got it done yesterday. Was finally able to remove the nut with an impact wrench and putting some pressure on the stud to prevent it from spinning. Then everything else was easy, just removing the rotor, pushing the stud out the back and placing a new one. Used an oversized bolt on the new stud and torqued a nut to press the new stud in.
Thanks all for your help and suggestions.
