I know all wheel bearings are for the most part the same but i wanna know if there are some that are better quality then others? What brands/manufacturers?

not really, get them from the autoparts stores online, pretty much all the same. i just bought 2 of them from discount body parts for like 40 bucks each. check them out

From what I understand, Timken & SKF's are highly recommended.

Timken for sure. Skf second if timkens price scares ya. Run away from GMB, I've received 2 now with the wrong studs preinstalled. I know its easy to fix but come on QUALITY CONTROL!!

40 bucks? you talkin about the fronts? I got timkens for the rear for like $10/ea

I agree with "peep", you get what you pay for, 99.9% of the time at least. Every once in a while you can get special buys on quality parts. But usually if its cheap its made with inferior metal and and tolerances are way to loose.
