Default wheel bearing hubs

Looks like I'm needing to replace one pretty soon. I saw prices from 65 to 130. My question is, are they all the same our should I go with a specific brand?

Timken is the best, but they run around 100 bucks a piece. Worth it though, wheel bearings are something you dont want to cut corners on.

It's silly to replace one when they both have the same amount of wear on them. Do both sides now and be done with it. I may be a little overzealous, but when one head lamp burns out , I just replace both.

If you are in there anyways, and your axle u-joints haven't been replaced recently, it is probably worth doing them as well. They are inexpensive, and can start to cause problems (or just fail) if not replaced, and you are taking the hub(s) off anyways, so the amount of extra work will be minimal

Awesome, thanks for the info. I definitely plan on keeping the jeep for while so I suppose the extra expense is worth it. I'll probably end up doing both! Thanks for the help!

U-Joints? Not a bad idea! They seem rather inexpensive. Time for some youtube video's on replacing u-joints. My only issue is my limited tools, so hopefully nothing too complicated is needed to replace those.

Hope you have a breaker bar for the hub assembly. 1 of my bolts needed a breaker bar for the complete removal of that bolt. Other than that, everything is fairly easy.

You are going to need a 36mm. socket to get the hub nut off. A 12 point socket to remove the 3 bolts per side. You can start spraying the the bolts and nut with penetrating oil. Just make sure you protect the brake components from the overspray.

Look at RockAuto.com, you can get Timken's for around $65 each.
