Default Wheel bearing.... HELP!!!

So I had a bad seal in the right hand side of my rear axle. I replaced the rear seal and bearing. After I got finished the first drive I thought I could hear a hum. It got louder as the days went by. Now I have a very loud whirring noise, and driveline vibes.

I have bought a new rear seal and bearing and am also picking up an axle shaft.

If the bearing was not seated properly could it have failed so.quickly? Does this sound like a wheel bearing, or could another part of the rear diff failed also?

I have no movement in the drive shaft or pinion that is typical when either fail. The driving noise sounds like it is coming from.the right hand side of the vehicle.

This is a Chrylser 8.25 BTW. Also when I was reassembling my spiders did fall out but I was able to roll them back in after many unsuccesful tries and get the pin back in and it seemed to move fine while I rotated it with everything back together.

usually the signs of a bad wheel bearing is clicking while turning, mostly when going slow. Did the spider gears in the diff spin or move at all when they slid out?

I've had bad bearings before, they can howl/growl/whine or click and yes the noise gets louder when turning because the bad bearing will get loaded with more weight because of the force of the turn. This sounds like the bearings I had go bad before in other vehicles.

Yes they did. The only way to get spider gears back in when they roll out is to roll two opposing gears back in at the exact same point, if you are even a tooth off the gears won't mesh properly and you can't slide the retaining pin all the way up. The gears seemed to mesh fine after I got the spiders rolled in.

The one thing I am worried about is a pinion bearing. I have nowhere near the mechanical knowledge to work with gears. So basically I would be looking at buying a rear end.

Did you also replace the race for bearing?

What bearing did you use? They're really slacking in QC on the cheaper bearings these days.

Maybe a dumb question but you repacked the new bearing grease, right?

The axle bearing replacement swap said nothing about a race, it just said pull the bearing with a slide hammer and tap new one using an appropriate size socket or pipe end. The install seal in a similar fashion.

And yes I greased the crap outta the new bearing.

Well fixed her up yesterday!

It was a combo effect.

The bearing I had got must have been trash because it was done, the new I just bought was a higher quality.

A U-joint at the pinion was gone but you couldn't tell until it was on jack stands, also when I had done the bearing there was no movement like this in the U because I checked it then.

A friend of mine put my tires back on for me while I cleaned up. He had switched the sides and the uneven tread wear had caused lots of road noise. I could only tell because the wheel on the blown bearing side had gear oil remnants in it but it was on the side that was fine when I worked on it today.

Thanks to those who responded anyhow, I am happy she is fixed.
