99cherokee alternator/voltage regulator need help

Default 99cherokee alternator/voltage regulator need help

is the voltage regulator in the alternator or in the computer? i have a 99 if that makes any difference

its having low voltage, i have a new battery and my alternator is faairley new, so i fugured is was my voltage regulator, i got it tested and it was and the guy tried to tell me it was im my alternator but i thoutht it was in the computer

Start simple, check the output on you Alt. What is it?

pretty low i cant remember what is was, all i wanna know is the regulator external, or internal in the alternator?

It depends on how much you want to troubleshoot. Check all of your grounds and run it and do a "wiggle" test.

Have you actually tested voltage off/ and with the engine running at the battery? If you are going just by the gauge inside, DONT

check the field connections at the alt. they are the two small wires not the larg 10g one. if they are not good or have any corrosion
it can give you low volts
