1993 4.0 HO, auto trans .. very basic, no power amenities

229k on clock, rebuilt /new engine somewhere in its travels, but no paperwork on such .. I think rebuilt .. to basic

3" lift, 31 inch ATs

safari basket w/ tire on top

getting not too great mileage .. but I have no EGR .. AC components were yanked out in engine compartment also

my 1990 renix Laredo manual trans got way better mileage than this 1, that was stock all around .. probably 20

quick guess ... Im getting 15 mpg .. on a good day .. more like 10 when I romp on it

Definatly running rich .. I may swap MAP sensor to see if it helps on richness.. renix engine was super rich with bad MAP

this 93 seems too rich, but it passed emissions .. seems my oil gets dirty feeling at 1500 miles.. like gas / oil .. gonna change it at 2k for awhile to be on safe side

** serious mpg note .. when i got tire up on top, seemed to get way less mpg's .. lookin into a wind fairing .. but dont think it will make much difference .. especially since that basket has light mounts on it .. lights sound like a fun project .. light up the campin trails this summer .. 2 lights up top & 2 on soon-to-be brushguard / deer catcher ... wahoo !!!

gotta pay to play !

85 Xj w/71 IH tractor motor n 3.31:1 gears, 31x10.50s on 4" lift. 16mpg. (High TQ of motor coupled with the original V6 gearing acts like a 4.0 w/4.10s on 31s)

1998, 3" lift, 31" Duratrac M/T's, stock aluminum wheels. My average is 13.8 mpg. Mostly country roads or highway (I despise freeways ). Not quite terrible; yet . I'm about to throw a roof rack with a spare tire, highligt, ax, shovel, and five, six inch lights on the top. That ought to do wonders to my mpg lol.

10-13mpg right now

Haven't had a chance to check it after I replaced the O2 sensors, spark plugs & put 784 injectors in. (damn water pump!) But hopefully that will put me back in the upper teens.

Mine's a 2000 Limited 4L ...I drive mostly in town back & forth to work.I average 17mpg. I thought I might could do better but not after seeing these other comments. It takes a long time for mine to warm up in the morning or at least for the heater to warm up...flushed the radiator last year & had a lot of rust in it. Any thoughts?

Typically a thermostat popped open. Replace with a Mopar 195. Another member on here noticed similar issues and traced the problem to his O2 making the engine run rich, prolonging warmup and poor fuel economy

I have a 1992 5 speed 4.0 HO
245/16s. I'm getting about 17 city, got 24 on the way to wolf creek from where I live (Amarillo). Dunno if my jeep was running good or what that day. Only real long trip I've been on since I've had it, got new o2 sensors, fuel filter, cowl intake mod, neon injector swap. Some other things too.
