16-18mpg city (depending how much of a hurry i am in to get around those slackers who sit at green lights on the phone, putting make up on, eatin donuts, whatever)

23.5mpg hwy ( I know cuz I drive hwy a lot, and have run the tank down to yes, coasting to gas station. 400 miles on 17 gal. tank) and thats at 75-80MPH.
[weird 17 gal tank, but thats what I got].

1991 sport, 5 speed, 4.0l. nothing fancy. no lift, michelin xlt tires, stock size.

I figure if the body was more aerodynamic, we'd get better mileage!
instead of the brick we are pushing through the atmosphere!

Of course I could convert the whole thing to propane/natural gas, then of course I'd need the 30 weight ball bearings and the sfitzer valve setup!

1992 2-dr, 3" lift with 235-75-15 bfg at's. Put on a dynomax turbo muffler, bored tb, rusty'air tube and keep up with maintenance. I drive daily 60 miles up a 3,000 ft incline/ decline (to sea level) and about 1 hr stuck in traffic in the mornings... I get around 18mpg and more if i don't have traffic and on even ground around 21mpg. The worst i got in the past few months was 17mpg.

the fuel lines are good. made sure of that. i mean, that mpg is on bad days. other times i can go a month before fill up. i hadda half tank when i bought it, drove it fer a month before i hadda put more in.

switch to propane and get 40 mpg's

plus big time power increase.

its safer than gasoline. more stable. dosent matter if your jeep is sideways or upside and its $1.80 a gallon here. more fill spots than you think too.

im doing it a bumping the compression on my 4.7 stroker to make an est. 370+ HP and 35 MPG

'97 XJ 4.0 Sport, totally stock. Always 20 mpg hwy, and don't live in the city! 252,650 miles, no engine or tranny work. Bought new. What a great vehicle, and not pampered.

Maintenance list:
Several sets of brakes all round
2 A/C compressors
2 alternators
Front wheel bearing assemblies (Preventative)
All u-joints (Preventative)
2 sets shocks
water pump
Oxygen sensors - 2sets
Waiting to be done:
Fuel pump (has bad gas gauge float in original)
Rear wheel bearings (it just must be time)

Oh, and replaced leaf springs both of which totally broke last fall, with heavy duty 1.5 " lifts that should last another quarter million miles or so.
