What year did cherokee's switch to coil pack's?

I have had several Ford's with 5.4L engines and COP's...they are great...UNTIL...you wash your engine...and then if any of the COP's have hairline cracks or water gets past the boot seal...you will be buying a new one! So you live with a dirty looking engine bay....and the cops work forever.

X 2, my 01 Ford Expedition 5.4 had the COP ignition and it was great. No problems with it......Now, changing plugs....That was a different story. ROYAL PITA!!!

Ya my '00 XJ has the COP's and i didnt know.. at least not until saturday when i decided to change my plugs and learned pretty quickly how much of a pain they are :P
i didnt know how many problems there were with them tho. how long do they usually last?

If they are taken care of and the motor is too they will last a long time but like buck and everyone else said no water.
