Default What year did cherokee's switch to coil pack's?

I am getting ready to buy a cherokee for my wife to replace a vini van.
And I hate coil pack's and did not know cherokee's even had them at any time till I saw a 2001.So I want to know the last year they still had regular plug's and wire's ect?

(84-99) XJ Cherokees have a normal Coil and Distributor ignition system.

(00-01) XJ Cherokees have the Coil on Plug (COP) ignition system....I believe this is what you are refering to as a Coil Pack Ignition.

Because It is just more **** to go wrong and the price of a coil pack for some cars just aint worth it. Plus most coil packs motors I have delt with have more ****t go wrong because of the coil pack than a dizzy motor.

sounds like you just dont like it bc its different. coil packs are more efficient than a distributor and wires. theres actually LESS to go wrong, and theyre more maintenance free.

yah I know a guy with a 01 that had all kinds of problems with em,and know a couple of other peaple with coil issue's in car's.One coil pack can cost as much as a set of wires and a cap and button.and any body with half a brain should have no problems dealing with wires ect.
