Well driving down the road the trans will occasionaly kick out of TCC lockup and then will proceed to slip like a banana. It feels like it is stuggling to go forward and the fact it does it occasionaly makes me think that the trans is still good but I am at a loss. It does have the check engine light on but I have not scanned it yet (I do not know if it will make it 15 miles to autozone) I have done some reasearch and I read that if the tps is bad then it could cause it to act funny.
What the heck is going on!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The brake switch will cause the TC to unlock, so there is one potential source. The TPS is often the culprit when the trans seems to be hunting for a gear. You can test the TPS for input and output voltages. Be sure to adjust the kickdown cable....fluid correct level and type and reasonably fresh?

You really need to get that code. Without it, you're guessing. That code is your KEY to figuring this out.
If you don't think it will make it to Autozone, find somebody with a code reader or a scan tool.

Then I guess you have to call a tow truck, take your chances driving it. Or, walk to a store and buy a reader. That CEL is very likely the key to your issue.
In the mean time. Is your trans fluid good? Check the brake switch and adjust the TPS.

Sounds like bad syncros maybe a new royal purple fluid flush will prolong the life a bit?

I figured it out, I know it was a while ago but it was such a wierd problem I had to share.
so I had a long list of codes, all of them unrelated (alt, trans controler, o2 sensor, and so forth) I also had one code that caught my eye. it was for the alternator voltage too high.
aparently the alt was putting out 18-20v. It fried everything from the pcm to the trans controler, to the o2 sensor.
Hopefully this helps someone else.

There is a solenoid that makes the torque converter lock up. It wont cause you to crap out. If it locks and doesn't disengage, you'll stall at a stop sign, red light. Thats highly unlikely that its stuck in lock up. They are fail safe. You have to get the code...get a lift, and rent one if you have to....AutoZone does it here...
