Default What would you carry with you on the trails.??

I am putting together a "Trailbox" That I can easily remove from the back when not needed.
What all should be in there ? I have some tiedown straps, Recovery strap, handtools, Flashlight, Giant Roll of Duct Tape (LOL) Trailer Hitch, . What other things might be a lifesaver on the trail or on the road ??

How about helping me (and others) out with a list of "Must Haves":

oh buddy. once you have been stuck and try to use a come along cause theres no area for some one else to pull u out of u will understand. let me say first off, dont use a come along they usually break right away, the reson for a high lift is that u strap one end to a point and the other end to anothe point. as u move the handle it acts as a come along exept u have more leverags and its safer than cable snapping. oh iv used mine as a prybar also works great as a hammer to.

spare parts, spare fluids, basic hand tools, maybe a hammer, recovery equipment, and a fire extinguisher. if you dont have aftermarket bumpers of sliders a hi lift wont always be much help.

An assortment of handtools. Generally the most common sizes for working on my heep. A 36mm socket and 1/2" breaker bar is a must have to replace a front shaft or unit bearing.
Since I've got an OBA set up i carry an impact gun too.

The best advice I've got regarding tools is this. Consider the trail repairs you may have to do and carry the tools necessary to do the job. Pull an axle shaft from each axle in your garage and keep track of the tools used...that's what you put in your tool box.

Visegrips and cresent wrenches can replace alot of wrenches.

Don't duplicate tools! no need to carry a ful set od 1/4", 3/8", and 1/2" drive sockets. A couple of adapters (1/4 to 3/8" and 3/8 to 1/2") can save you alot of weight.

Screwdrivers? how many standard and phillips head screws are on a Jeep? Not too many. Grab a couple of sockets this the approriate tips.

Carry a set of Torx Sockets!! You can't swap out an IAC, MAP sensor, or TPS without them. (Applies to newer XJ's)

A 4lb Engineers Hammer (AKA- BFH)

Spraypaint your tools so that it's easier to collect them all when your done with repairing your rig.

id say carry a basic toolbag- hammer, sockets, wrenchs, screwdrivers, torx bits, allen wrenches(never know), and a roll of electric and duct tape. as for other stuff id carry a couple different fluids- maybe antifreeze, qt of oil, qt of gear oil, tow strap, etc. as for spare parts... couple u-joints, cps/tps, fuses, etc.. you dont want to weigh the jeep down with a bunch of useless crap.

Those should be in your Jeep 24/7, not just when wheeling.
