Yep... I've heard of it, it covers the whole lifetime... all couple of months maybe a year if you're lucky!!!
JK... Now is it a complete lifetime warranty now, cause I had a friend who had an XRC8, and when he tried to get a warrantied fix, was then told that it was a limited lifetime warranty, and the limited part didn't cover s**t!!! So I would def. look into that before you start beating on it too hard.... Just my $.02...

I used to be a dealer for Ramsey winch back in the early 90's. Don't know what they are like today but, back then, there was Ramsey and Warn and Superwinch. Superwinch was junk. Ramsey and Warn were serious products. I have a 2500 pound capacity Ramsey "WonderWinch" out in the barn - little bitty thing - that will pull 5,000 pounds through a sheave block. Slow...but stout.
Anyway...I'm a believer that when you need the winch, you really do need it. All bickering aside, quality will out.

There are a million reasons car parts are made overseas and all of them the result of politicians and government interference in the car business. Not one single company supplying the car industry would operate in China or Mexico if they were not forced to do so. Look at the etched label on the glass in your XJ...it's been made in Mexico forever. Remember this when you step into the voting booth in November. If your parts suck, if you don't have a job, you have a politician...or a lawyer...to thank.

caemi that was my point. mudd asked for an opinion and they started in with its made in china. buy a real winch i have a smittybuilt 10000lb it was what i could affford. i read good reviews from them being tested right along with other brands. as long as i use it the right way im sure it will last my a long time. as far as the diffrence between the 2 i dont know i havent had to use mine yet. so go with what you can afford and think is right for you.
it seems there would be a compromise here... Buy the most winch for the money... If you are worried about the reliability of it (because it doesnt have the right name tag on it) then invest in a realy good come-a-long and hopefully never have to use it...
