Im going to be buying a winch and cant decide which one I want. I either want the Rugged Ridge 8500# or the Smittybuilt XRC8. which do you recommend? Dont tell me about any others. Just between these two. Thanks

tough choice.

i probably couldn't decide which one to waste my money one either.

but just because i've only heard negative things about the chittybuilt, i'd probably go with the rugged ridge.

I have the &!^^#built and love it.Never had a problem and I've pulled some rather large trucks with it flawlessly. My vote is for XRC8.I have a buddy that is a staff member at an offroad park and uses his XRC8 all day long .He works there 9 days a month and abuses it badly. He has had it for about 2 years now. Still going strong.Thats why I bought mine.

both are made in china. overtime they both will wear out and you will be buying a good winch later on. they both are super super slow pulling.

both winches are not great quality. they will have issues. save your hard earned money and buy quality. they are cheap for a reason........

mm, rugged ridge, smittybuilt are probably built from the same company. all are made in china. if you pull the motor a part I bet you will see the same markings on all 3!

hes not cocky. just trying to help you from buying a cheap winch. when you need a winch you want it to perform. i have seen both smitty and rugged both not unspool on the trail. buy cheap you get cheap

Haha. This is an interesting thread. But you should consider what they are saying. Why waste your money on something that is going to break after a few uses? A winch is one thing that I think should be top quality bc it will be saving your butt time and time again. Just my 2 cents.
