I own a 98 jeep cherokee sport 4x4 automatic, how do i tell what transmission is in it, I need to get a new tcu. also will any tcu work from other years if the jeep has the same transmission?

I tried google seach but it doesnt lead me to much, thanks for the help.

thanks for the quick reponses. now i just need to find out from which vehicles i can get the tcu from. any ideas? does it have to be the 98? or will one from any aw4 and 4.0 work?

I'm pretty sure any AW4 TCU will be fine. I could be wrong.

alright i will be dropping by the junk yard later today and see what all i can find.
