What tool to remove torx head stud on exhaust manifold?
I am changing my 2000 cylinder head (cracked at 190,000) and am now removing the intake / exhaust manifolds.
It seems that all the bolts are 9/16" except for the two studs at either end of the cylinder head which have torx heads.
What sort of tool would I need to remove this? And what size? This is not certainly not something I have sitting around in my toolbox.

Isn't that going to be removed with the same socket that removed the rest? then use the torx to remove the entire stud from the block? That's what i would think looking at it...

Just remove the 9/16 nut from that stud. There isn't a reason to remove the stud though. To remove the stud use something like these.

You are most likely going to break the hex portion of the stud off when trying to remove it. I would just get 2 new studs and dont worry about taking them out.

For future reference in any case seems the OEM is a size "E-8" FYI.

i used a socket on mine. don’t recall what size. decent chance when you start backing that nut off it will bring the stud with it.
edit: id go to a parts store and get one of the bolt kits if you can’t remove the stud. ive pulled several and so far they all came out relatively easy.
